The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on the 25th, 26th, and 27th January 2021 had 13.5 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer decreased from 13.9 million kilograms offered in the same period last year, and increased from 10.3 million kilograms offered in the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 11.7 million kilograms were sold compared to 12.5 million kilograms sold in the same period last year, and 9.09 million kilograms sold during the previous sale.
The tea auction recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.89, compared to $2.11 for the same period last year, and $1.96 during the previous sale held on 18th, 19th, and 20th January 2021.
