Mobile phone service provider Safaricom has reported an outage of its Mpesa services on the MySafaricom App.
Other affected services are KCB Mpesa and Mshwari operated jointly by Safaricom and KCB Group and NCBA bank respectively.
The downtime comes at a time when the Central Bank of Kenya(CBK) allowed the minimum transaction limit on Mpesa to increase from KSh 70,000 to KSh 150,000. The daily limit of amounts that can be transacted through this channel has also increased to KSh 300,000.
The company has reassured its clients that it is working to restore the service.
A statement released to the public read, ” As an alternative, customers can continue to access Mpesa services through the SIM Toolkit on the phone’s menu.”
