The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on the 25th and 26th March 2020 recorded 12.5 million kilograms of tea offered for sale.
There was a decline in the offered kilograms as compared to the previous auction held on 16th and 17th March, which saw 13.1 million kilograms offered, and 12 million sold.
Out of all the tea offered for sale, 9.7 million kilograms were sold.
The auction recorded a decrease in tea prices, given the uncertainity in the international markets due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. A kilogram of tea sold for an average of $1.86, compared to $1.90 in the previous sale.
