Kenyan based media house Mediamax Networks Limited which operates K24 TV, a number of vernacular stations and a free newspaper People Daily has announced the reorganization of its staff structure saying this is meant to reflect the loss of revenue streams and adjust to the recent economic downturn.
In this case, the services of some of the employees will be deemed redundant thus necessitating the need to terminate their employment.
Mediamax, therefore, has given a one month notice of the intended redundancies in line with provisions of the Employment Act.
In addition, the employees shall receive one month’s salary in lieu of notice and severance payment at the rate of 15 days’ pay for each year of service.
Further, the affected employees will be paid their salary for the period up to and including the date of termination and all accruing benefits, including any leave days earned but not taken.
