Andela has announced the departure of 170 junior engineers and staff from its Kenyan hub with an additional 250 affected from the Nigerian and Ugandan hubs.
The move comes as the company restructures its talent pool to align with the global market demand for more senior engineering talent.
Andela’s business model involved training local entry-level developers to be globally competitive, placing then on four-year contracts and earning revenues by outsourcing their skills to clients in that time frame.
The firm says there is a shift in the market as customers are moving towards and seeking engineers that are more experienced.
Andela builds distributed engineering teams and has offices in New York, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Uganda, and Egypt.
