A CMC director and also the fifth largest shareholder of Olympia Capital lost control of his range rover while allegedly drunk and rammed into a a gate in Runda, killing a guard on Monday night.
Police said the security guard had flagged down the car belonging to Cooper Motor Corporation director Joel Kibe for checking in the Nairobi estate.
In a video clip that went viral on social media, Kibe is heard saying: “Nimegonga barrier. Gari yangu imeumia, tumeumia sote (I hit the barrier. My car is damaged, we’re all hurt.)
Mr Kibe, who did not appear in court on Wednesday was said to be seeking medical care for a few days, according to his lawyer Cliff Ombeta.
Mr Kibe continues to serve as a director of NSE De-listed firm, CMC Motors even after the buyout by AlFuttaim.
According to the latest Company fillings,Mr Kibe is the 5th Largest shareholder of Olympia Capital, with 949,500 shares which represents a 2.3% stake of the NSE listed firm.Mr is also an executive director of Mobicom, Telkom Kenya’s main dealer which also has 449 600 shares of Olympia Capital,representing 1.12% stake.
Mr Kibe also owns a significant stake at National Bank of Kenya.
