Total Kenya (Stock; TOTL) has announced that it has completed legal changes to the Company’s status, and now operates as a Public Limited Company (Plc) along with a legal change of name to Total Kenya Plc.
The company through the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) said in a notice to its shareholders;
“We hereby inform our customers, business partners and general public that following approval by the company’s shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held on 16th June 2017, we have effective 23rd June 2017 changed our name from ‘Total Kenya Ltd” to ‘Total Kenya Plc” in line with the requirements of the Companies Act 2015.”
Total Kenya Limited is part of the global Total Group, which is the fourth largest publicly traded integrated international oil and gas company in the world with presence in over 100 countries. The company has been in existence in Kenya since 1955 when it was first registered as OZO East Africa Limited although it begun actual business operations in 1959. In 1963, the company name changed from OZO East Africa Limited to Total Oil Products East Africa Limited which held its first Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 1988 making it the first multinational oil company to be quoted on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
Total Oil Products East Africa Limited changed its name to Total Kenya Limited in 1991 and has operated under the same name until the above Change to Plc Status.
