The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Board has appointed Christopher Wambua as the acting Director General, following suspension of Ezra Chiloba.
In an internal memo to the staff, Mary Mungai, the Authority’s chairperson said the changes takes effect last Monday. She however did not give reasons leading to the suspension of Chiloba.
“Following a meeting of the Authority’s Board held on 18 September, resulting in the suspension of the Director General, I am pleased to inform all staff of the appointment of Christopher Wambua as Director General in acting capacity effective Monday until further notice,” reads the Memo.
Chiloba, a former Chief Executive Officer of the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) took over as the Director General of CA a year ago, succeeding Mercy Wanjau who held the position in an acting capacity.
Chiloba is not new to suspension, having been suspended as the Chief Executive Officer of IEBC in 2020 over procurement issues.
