In a momentous occasion at the YES! Army Youth Energy Summit held in Nairobi on 20-23 June 2023, the Power Learn Project was bestowed with the esteemed Founders Award. Presented by H.E. the President of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, this prestigious recognition acknowledges the organization’s unwavering commitment to youth development in Africa. The Power Learn Project has set an ambitious goal of training one million developers, aiming to bridge the digital divide and empower individuals through its innovative tech training program.
During a panel discussion at the summit, Mumbi Ndung’u, Chief of Growth & Operations at Power Learn Project, shared insights into the organization’s mission across the country. She emphasized the significance of equipping learners from Africa with future-fit skills for the energy sector, highlighting the growing importance of technology in addressing the continent’s challenges. Ndung’u emphasized the need for collaboration with industry players to leverage technology for solving Africa’s problems.
Beyond Privilege Hackathon Targets Energy Sector
To further their commitment to fostering innovation, inclusivity, and equal opportunities in the tech industry and the energy sector, Power Learn Project announced a collaborative initiative with Yes! called the “Beyond Privilege” Hackathon. The hackathon, commencing on July 3rd, 2023, aims to bring together a diverse pool of talent to develop innovative solutions for real-world challenges, with a particular focus on the clean energy sector.
Participants in the “Beyond Privilege” Hackathon will have the opportunity to craft groundbreaking solutions that address pressing issues in the energy sector. Winning teams will not only gain recognition but also receive mentorship opportunities and resources to further develop their projects.
Simon Gosling, Managing Director of Energy Net, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Power Learn Project, emphasizing the transformative journey towards a sustainable and inclusive future.
