Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payment service provider, has been announced as the lead fintech sponsor for the Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) in 2023, which will be held in Washington DC on April 12 and in an African city to be announced in November. The sponsorship follows the granting of Flutterwave’s latest licenses in Egypt, which allow it to expand its presence in the Middle East and North Africa.
Flutterwave has been active in developing and shaping the fintech industry in Africa since its inception in 2016. The company has processed over 400 million transactions worth more than $25 billion to date across 34 African countries and now serves over 1 million businesses globally.
Flutterwave’s CEO, Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, said the AFTS event has been instrumental in developing and shaping the fintech industry in Africa, and Flutterwave has been an active enabler of ecosystem growth. He added that the company is enthusiastic about engaging stakeholders and partners who help create endless possibilities, and is excited about the opportunities that the sponsorship provides as Flutterwave continues its vision to connect African countries through payments.
The AFTS has become the largest bi-annual fintech gathering on the African continent since its first summit in 2018. In addition to Flutterwave’s sponsorship, the event will be supported by a diverse cohort of partners and sponsors. The 9th edition of AFTS will focus on fintech regulatory best practices, diaspora banking and remittance, African fintechs expanding globally, cross-border payment movements and use-cases for decentralized finance (DeFi), fintech funding trends, cross-border payments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), US-Africa tech connections, and other spotlight topics.
Tickets for AFTS Washington DC are now available for purchase, and delegates can receive a 25% discount by using the code $END25 at checkout. The AFTS aims to facilitate collaboration between stakeholders and to showcase Africa’s potential as a fintech hub.
