Boeing has grounded the entire fleet of 737 MAX 8s and 9s following the recent Ethiopian airlines crash which killed all 157 aboard. This decision by Boeing came just moments after President Donald Trump announced an emergency order to ban the airlines in US airspace.
In a statement, the company stated that it had temporarily suspended the entire 371 MAX aircraft in order to reassure the flying public of the aircraft safety.
“Out of an abundance of caution and in order to reassure the flying public of the aircraft’s safety-to recommend to the FAA the temporary suspension of operations of the entre gloal fleet of 371 MAX aircraft” the statement said.
The American company noted that it made the move after consultation with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S National Safety Board.
“We are doing everything we can to understand the cause of the accidents in partnership with the investigators, deploy safety enhancements and help ensure this does not happen again,” the statement added.
The US firm has been grampling with the Boeing 737 Max planes which has been grounded by several countries including UK, China, Canada among many others.
