    KQ Stanchart dropped from NSE 20 Share Index,replaced by DTB CIC

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange has removed Kenya Airways and Standard Chartered Bank from the Benchmark NSE 20 Share Index and replaced them with CIC Insurance Group and Diamond Trust Bank Limited so as to reflect an accurate picture of market performance.

    The bourse selects constituent companies of the NSE 20 Share Index based on weighted market performance during the period under review based the following criteria:

    • •Trading activity measures i.e. market capitalization, shares traded, deals/liquidity and turnover during the period under review are weighed in the ratio of 4:3:2:1 respectively; •
    • •A company must have at least 20% of its shares quoted at the NSE;
    • •Must have a minimum market capitalization of Kshs. 20 million;
    • •A company should ideally be a blue chip with superior profitability and dividend record.

    Following this review, the NSE 20 Share Index constituent companies will be as follows;

    Banking Sector

    Kenya Commercial Bank Ltd

    The Cooperative Bank of Kenya Ltd

    Today’s Market Report

    The NSE 20 Share Index was up 4.92 points to stand at 3939.50. All Share Index (NASI) ended 0.44 points higher to stand at 146.87. The NSE 25 Share Index gained 13.25 points to settle at 4184.94.
